Taylor Wimpey España kicks off fundraising challenges in aid of two charities

Spain ,

The second weekend of May will see Taylor Wimpey employees complete their annual Charity Challenge divided in four levels to raise money for two great causes.

This year’s challenge will transport employees to Wales, home of the massive Snowdonia National Park complete with stunning yet challenging mountains to climb. Two teams from the Spanish arm of the company, Taylor Wimpey Espana, will tackle the fierce challenge of hiking the mountains, taking in the infamous Glyders and Snowdon itself.

As well as preparing to tackle this rocky challenge (10th to 13th May), the Taylor Wimpey España teams have started holding fundraising events to help raise money for The Youth Adventure Trust and Llar de memoria, with a marketing campaign with suppliers, agents, the sale of T-shirts and a solidarity beer event held in the office on Mallorca.

The Youth Adventure Trust helps vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to gain the skills, confidence and courage needed in order to face the challenges in their daily lives whereas Llar de memoria is an association that ruins a sanitary centre to treat dementia.

The team has already raised 91% of the £4,000 target before the challenge.

“Our Taylor Wimpey challenge has become an annual event with many employees looking forward to the opportunity to participate and donate to some amazing causes. The money raised from this challenge will make such a difference to young people’s lives and victims of dementia. Our goal is to give as much as we can, so no donation is too big or too small. We wish our two teams chosen to represent the Spanish division all the very best for this exciting challenge!”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

Despite the popularity of the Snowdonia peaks, this challenge should not be underestimated especially as they are divided in four levels: Snowdon Dragon, Snowdon Monster, Snowdon Sprite and Snowdon Beast.

Each includes a conquest of the National Park through Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr and Snowdon – a total ascent of 1,500 metres on average – and those brave enough will not just descend on foot but also on two wheels. With its large boulders, gushing waterfalls, vertical rock faces, heavy mist and endless crude stone staircases, the Snowdon mountains really are a hell of a place for a hike and bike ride!

For 60 years, Taylor Wimpey España has been delivering award-winning homes that complement the natural beauty of the Balearics, the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. If you would like to view more about the event or make a donation to the team please do visit this link.

Spanish holiday home market sizzles as Taylor Wimpey España launches four new developments

Spanish holiday home market sizzles as Taylor Wimpey España launches four new developments

Spain
  • Average price for Spanish housing jumped by 3.8% (Tinsa)
  • Housing recovery is becoming more widespread (Sociedad de Tasacion)
  • Sizzling new holiday homes available on Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and Mallorca (Taylor Wimpey España)

Today’s outlook for housing in Spain is bright with the country’s real estate market causing international buyers to sit up and take notice. Latest data from Tinsa presents strong evidence of the Spanish housing recovery with the average price of finished housing in Spain increasing by 3.8% in first quarter of the year, compared to the same period in 2017. The same report states that the greatest demand comes for housing on the Spanish coasts where Taylor Wimpey España has been operating for 60 years (1958 – 2018).

Indeed, whilst the recovery is at its strongest in different regions, including the capital Madrid, but data from Sociedad de Tasacion (ST) suggests that price increases are becoming more widespread across the nation. Consequently, buyers in search of the perfect holiday home, are increasingly moving to secondary cities and locations to find affordable properties. With this in mind, the Spanish coasts, especially the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol, are in the spotlight with Taylor Wimpey España launching not one but four new projects this spring in answer to rising demand for holiday homes.

In line with the company’s plan to invest 30 million euros in the most popular destinations, Spain’s leading housebuilder continues to strengthen its position in the residential market with these four new developments: Kiruna Residential in Elche, Costa Blanca, Royal Blue in Mallorca, Royal Banus in a privileged enclave next to Puerto Banus in Marbella and Le Caprice within the famous La Quinta Golf Resort area in Benahavis, Costa del Sol.

“When buying a holiday home in Spain, location is always a key factor. That is the reason why we spend a lot of time at Taylor Wimpey España focused on building quality houses in the right areas. We do not think about just building houses, but rather seek is to create the perfect home in the perfect location where owners can enjoy the environment to the fullest.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

Le Caprice is a prime example. The exclusive residence located on the Costa del Sol comprises 14 penthouses, apartments and duplexes with 3 bedrooms that have everything residents need to enjoy the Mediterranean life. The south-west facing project enjoys spectacular views over La Quinta golf course, making the development a unique destination for golf lovers. Prices start from €550,000 + VAT.

The second new development on the Costa del Sol is the exclusive Royal Banus. It may be located next to the casino in Marbella but these 6 luxury penthouses with solarium and 18 modern contemporary apartments with 2 and 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms are no gamble! Prices start from €490,000 + VAT and the complex is set to be completed for Q4 2019.

Further north on the Costa Blanca, Kiruna Residencial is located in the town of Elche (Alicante) in an environment surrounded by nature and golf courses. The complex of 3-bedroom townhouses combines the Alenda Golf course with a livelier beachfront nightlife easily accessible in just 15 minutes. The homes also include a garden, private parking and access to a communal swimming pool, club house and supermarket. Prices start from €165,000 + VAT. The houses are scheduled to be delivered for June 2019.

Finally, Royal Blue is a modern Mediterranean style residential complex comprised of 17 homes and located next to the beaches Cala Molto and Cala Agulla at Cala Mesquida where residents can enjoy the fabulous sea views. The development has a communal pool and gardens for owners. Each home has a private garden and penthouses provide solarium terraces. Prices start from €315,000 + VAT.

Taylor Wimpey España celebrates 60th anniversary (1958 – 2018)

Taylor Wimpey España celebrates 60th anniversary (1958 – 2018)

Spain

2018 sees Taylor Wimpey celebrate its 60th year of operations in Spain.

A household name in the UK, Taylor Wimpey has spent the last six decades (1958 – 2018) selecting prime locations on the Spanish mainland and Balearic Islands, building attractive developments characterised by their quality, careful design and respect for the environment.

Today, the Spanish arm of Taylor Wimpey, which has reported steady growth in both international buyers and house sales, is contributing to Spain’s well-recovered property market with experts forecasting prices and sales to rise once again this year.

In 1958 Taylor Wimpey – known as “Taylor Woodrow” at that time – was already a prestigious developer in the United Kingdom when Frank Taylor, the company’s founder, spent his honeymoon on Mallorca. He and his wife, Christine, fell in love with the island and decided that Taylor Wimpey should also operate in Spain.

With the support of Jaime Ballester, they set up the subsidiary and built their first properties – Apartamentos Paraiso – in Canyamel, in the east of Mallorca. The development was comprised of 40 apartments across five blocks.

Over the years they extended their presence to other coastal areas – the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca primarily with the acquisition in June 1996 of the development Las Fuentes in Moreira and Los Castillos in the early 1990’s in Puerto Duquesa.

In 2007, Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey merged to create the UK’s largest housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Plc and two years later its Spanish arm took the name of Taylor Wimpey España led by current General Manager Javier Ballester, son of Jaime Ballester.

During the 60 years since formation, Taylor Wimpey España has delivered more than 6,000 homes in its three current locations to buyers from over 40 countries worldwide. More than 3,000 homes have been sold on the islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, about 2,5000 homes on the Costa del Sol and more than 1,000 on Costa Blanca North & South.

Increasingly, today’s Taylor Wimpey España client is paying more attention to the developer’s brand and reputation for delivering than location, price or features.

One example of Taylor Wimpey España’s obsession with quality is the exclusive Marina Golf development located in the southwest of Mallorca. Priced from €549,000 + VAT, the last remaining golf townhouses have 3 with private terraces and gardens, surrounded by a solarium with views over the Santa Ponsa III golf course.

“Whilst it’s easy to say, it’s not so easy to deliver high quality homes which is why we are so proud of our Mallorcan developments. Operational since 1958, Taylor Wimpey España has been at the forefront of the island’s property market for almost six decades, securing the very best sites and building the finest homes for our clients. We are Mallorca and we are committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the island we call home.”

Ditch the pud for paella and have yourself a sunny little Christmas in Spain

Ditch the pud for paella and have yourself a sunny little Christmas in Spain

Spain
  • Quarter of Brits prefer to head overseas during holidays to avoid ‘boring’ UK Christmas (MyVoucherCodes.co.uk)
  • Brits set to overspend this December with an average of €159 on food alone (Deloitte)
  • Stylish second homes available from €365k for the unique Spanish festive season (Taylor Wimpey España)

While many Brits will be braving the cold and unbearably crowded shopping expeditions during the holidays, other are shunning England entirely for a sunnier little Christmas in Spain.

A survey, conducted by discount website MyVoucherCodes.co.uk in October, revealed that a quarter of Britons surveyed will swap ‘boring’ UK Christmas for a festive getaway in the sun.

According to the Deloitte Christmas Survey 2017, Brits are set to overspend this December splashing most of their money on food (€159). So why not forget the traditional turkey blowout and opt for grilled ‘cigalas’ (crayfish) instead, washed down with a few glasses of Cava?

Shellfish, Iberian ham, grilled shrimp, clams with salsa verde, roast lamb, suckling pig, lobster stew, fudge, polvorones … the list of delicious Christmas dishes in Spain is long and moreish. But food and the weather are not the only reasons to be in the Iberian Peninsula at this time of year.

Spending Navidades in Spain is often a driving factor for many people looking to buy a new home in under the Spanish sun with a rise in the number of properties sold in the run up to the festive period registered by Spanish housebuilder Taylor Wimpey España.

“In the UK, Christmas is a much more of a commercial holiday than it is in Spain. The UK’s emphasis on gift buying is much greater but here it is more about investing time in making delicious meals and spending precious moments with family. It’s a very different kind of holiday season and one that feels really special to experience.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

Although just two hours flight from the UK, Spain is increasingly seen as the ideal European country in which to enjoy a different winter. The festive season in Spain is fully underway and lasts until Epiphany on January 6th.

On December 22, Spaniards are glued to their TV screen as the famous draw – the Loteria de Navidad– takes place, with families celebrating a big win if they got El Gordo. Then follows, the most joyful celebration on Christmas Eve where families gather together for a sumptuous festive dinner. The festive excitement culminates with the parade of the Three Kings on January 5th – the only day where inhabitants can enjoy a guilt-free treat – a traditional ring-shaped cake Roscon de Reyes.

The Spanish housing market is also set for a happy Christmas as Taylor Wimpey España has expanded its portfolio for the winter season with new sea front apartments available at Botanic in Costa del Sol for example.

Situated on an exclusive area of Benahavis, this private residential complex offers 3 bedroom apartments priced from just €365,000 + VAT – all designed in a typical Mediterranean style for both comfort and convenience.

The complex stands out for its eco-friendly features as each home use solar panels, high quality thermal insulation, sound proofing and have minimum energy consumption – holding a ‘B’ energy certificate. All rooms are south-facing so the large open windows can enjoy stunning views from the sea and be open to the winter sun.

So, for those looking to ditch the Christmas pud for paella and truly live an ultimate Spanish experience, look no further than the new Botanic development!

The lap of luxury: Inside some of Taylor Wimpey España’s most luxurious homes

The lap of luxury: Inside some of Taylor Wimpey España’s most luxurious homes

Spain ,
  • A holiday home through Taylor Wimpey España averages £350,000.
  • Number of homes completed rose to 30% compared to 2016.
  • The most expensive villa so far in 2017 was sold just under €1 million.
Spain is notoriously one of the most enquired about destinations for Brits buying holiday homes abroad. Whether it’s a detached villa, a stylish penthouse or simply a duplex perfect for a retreat, the Spanish second home market attracts all types but increasingly its more affluent buyers that are seeking that dream place in the Spanish sun.
Indeed, leading housebuilder, Taylor Wimpey España has seen buyer budgets’ rise over the past 18 – 24 months by an average of 10%. Today a Taylor Wimpey España home in Spain will cost on average (£350.000).
So what’s fuelling this rise in spending?
According to Taylor Wimpey España, which has been selling homes in Spain for almost 60 years, the rise is primarily accounted for by the sale of properties within more luxurious (and hence expensive) new developments to affluent overseas buyers.
Looking at the first quarter of 2017 for instance, there was an increase in customer reservations for Taylor Wimpey España’s most lavish properties such as Serenity or Casa Vinyes Hills located on the exclusive island of Mallorca.
In total, the leading British developer completed nearly 30% more properties across Spain in H1 2017 than H1 2016, and grew their order book by nearly 2%.
“Even though prices might be rising buyers are prepared to pay more as they know that Spanish property remains some of the best value within Europe. Buyers from across the globe are taking an interest in what Spanish bricks & mortar can offer, both as an investment and as a lifestyle. We are seeing more and more buyers coming to Spain with bigger budgets, looking for more luxurious and high specification homes which we at Taylor Wimpey España are more than happy to deliver.”

Marc Pritchard, Taylor Wimpey España
In terms of where these wealthy buyers are looking, the enquiries that Marc and the team at Taylor Wimpey España receive are primarily for specific, high value areas of Marbella of the Costa del Sol, Nova Santa Ponsa and Port Andratx in Mallorca and Villajoyosa on the Costa Blanca. And it is due to this growing demand that Taylor Wimpey España has launched new luxury developments in these areas.
Significant price increases have also been seen on Mallorca which is turning the heads of wealthy individuals, here the average price of properties has reached £375,000 + VAT.
“When it comes to location, one of our most popular Spanish spots with Brits is the jewel of the Mediterranean – Mallorca. Mallorquin property prices have always been on average higher than the mainland, primarily due to restrictions on land availability, but having been operational on the island for almost 60 years now, we are in a unique position to still be able to secure prime plots upon which to build the most of luxurious homes.”
Marc Pritchard, Taylor Wimpey España

This year, Marina Golf situated in south-west of Mallorca was the location of the most expensive property available through Taylor Wimpey España. Customers could acquire spacious villas from 145 m², complete with 30 m² private terrace, large gardens to enjoy warm Mediterranean evenings and a swimming pool twice the standard size. Each townhouse comprised three bedrooms and three bathrooms with air conditioning, all available from £531,000 + VAT . The most expensive one was sold at £880,000 + VAT.
In order to ensure the maximum amount of light, these properties are also southwest facing so the sun can be enjoyed for most of the day and just 30 minutes’ drive to Palma international airport.

Record number of UK expats spend their silver years in Spain

Record number of UK expats spend their silver years in Spain

Spain , ,
  • Number of British residents aged 65 or over in Spain has doubled (ONS)
  • 40% of British residents in Spain are retired (ONS)
  • Majority of UK buyers of Spanish homes are 50-65 years old (Taylor Wimpey España)

Data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has revealed that Spain is home to more UK expats aged 65 or over than the UK is home to Spanish citizens.

The number of British elderly living in Spain has doubled in a decade having reached now 121,000 and with the majority of UK expats relocating to Spain for retirement, there is a steady increase in British expats receiving their state pension upon Spanish shores.

“When it comes to who is moving and living in Spain, over the last decade we have witnessed the marked growth of those of retirement age choosing to relocate. We now receive more the double the number of enquiries from this demographic than we did 10 years ago, a trend which the ONS data also reflects.  “

Marc Pritchard, Sales & Marketing Manager, Taylor Wimpey España

Concerns about the freeze of state pension post-Brexit have also been wiped out as the government has stated that British pensioners will continue to have their state pension increase. And with Pension Awareness Day fast approaching, interest from British pensioners to relocate in Spain is believed by many not to slow down in the near future with many UK pensioners retire in Spain. In 2016, 40% of the 300,000 British citizens living in Spain were retired, according to ONS figures.

Leading Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España, which offers a range of second homes on Mallorca, the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, has also seen an increase in the number of UK buyers aged 50-65 years old.

“The majority of British buyers we welcome here to Spain are aged 50 – 65 years old; those who are lucky enough to have retired early but more often than not, those thinking ahead and planning for their silver years in the Spanish sun.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales & Marketing Manager, Taylor Wimpey España

In Costa del Sol, where half of Taylor Wimpey España‘s clients are from the UK, golf complex development Horizon Golf receives particular interest from older buyers. Located just 30 minutes from Malaga airport, ease of access from the UK is a big draw which the development’s extensive on site amenities including golf courses offer both the amenities and community aspects that buyers looking to relocate for retirement are often seeking.

“In response to demand from UK buyers looking for retirement properties, we are delighted to present our latest residential golf project on the Costa del Sol. Horizon Golf has the perfect environment for retirees as it offers a spa, hotel and golf course all close to the residential areas. We see in FBD Hotel & Resorts a strategic partner and the signing of our fourth collaboration is further evidence of renewed confidence in the real estate market in southern Spain. “

Javier Ballester CEO at Taylor Wimpey Spain

The new Horizon Golf complex is comprised of 2 and 3 bedroom terraced apartments and 3 bed homes which boast breathtaking views over the famous Campo Asia golf course. Price start from £380,000 (410.000€) + VAT.

The future of overseas holiday homes: Quality properties, in quality locations, from quality developers

The future of overseas holiday homes: Quality properties, in quality locations, from quality developers

Spain

As the world’s population swells, so too do its number of tourists – in particular to Spain. At current rates of growth, total visitors to Spain – reported to have already reached over 36 million from January to June this year – will be close to twice its population in the coming years.

Take the Spanish island of Mallorca. Whether it’s the Love Island effect or simply the countless charms of this Mediterranean jewel but this summer, its popularity has reached dizzier heights with British arrivals up 17.6% (Jan – May 2017 vs the same period in 2016) reports the Tourism Board.

With an economy so reliant on tourism, this is indeed positive news however with visitor numbers swelling, some are concerned over its sustainability.

It is fantastic to see Mallorca’s popularity continues to flourish, we have certainly received a great number of enquiries from international visitors looking to experience all that this wonderful island has to offer. I do believe however that it is important to ensure that Mallorca remains a sustainable island which is why we are focused on delivering quality homes in quality locations for generations to enjoy.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey Espana

Indeed, as the local authorities set out ambitious plans to move away Mallorca from mass market tourism and embrace quality, Taylor Wimpey Espana, established almost 60 years ago on the island, is proudly delivering its high quality homes.

“Whilst it’s easy to say, it’s not so easy to deliver high quality homes which is why we are so proud of our Mallorcan developments. Operational since 1958, Taylor Wimpey Espana has been at the forefront of the island’s property market for almost six decades, securing the very best sites and building the finest homes for our clients. We are Mallorca and we are committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the island we call home.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey Espana

One example of Taylor Wimpey Espana’s obsession with quality is the exclusive new development Camp de Mar Beach located in the heart of the well-known Andratx golf course in the fashionable south-west of the island.

The development consists of three bedroom townhouses designed in a Mediterranean style and built to the highest specifications including, air-conditioning, under floor heating throughout the property, fully fitted kitchens with Silestone worktops as well as communal gardens and a large modern swimming pool.

Each townhouse has direct access to the beach and benefits from breathtaking sea views, perfect for a summer of sunshine and relaxation in your own private holiday haven.  Prices start from €650,000 + VAT and the property includes the 10 year NHBC build warranty as is standard on all Taylor Wimpey Espana homes.

Spanish tourism sector heats up as Brits head to Spain for summer

Spanish tourism sector heats up as Brits head to Spain for summer

Spain ,

  • Experts foresee another record year for Spain’s tourisms industry. (INE)
  • 23% of British homebuyers are accelerating purchases in Spain. (BNP Paribas)
  • Spain is home to the largest numbers of British outside the UK in the EU (ONS)

Spain has enjoyed four consecutive years of record-breaking numbers of foreign tourists and 2017 is set to be the fifth year of historical highs.

The Iberian nation has already welcomed 20 million visitors so far this year (Jan – April 2017), an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year according to the Frontier Tourism Survey from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Accounting for almost a quarter of those who have visited Spanish shores this year are Brits – 4.3 million, up 9.6% from the previous year with the latest figures by BNP Paribas International also highlighting the British mania for Spain with 23% of UK property buyers planning to accelerate their purchases in Spain.

Indeed, Spain has been for many decades the number one choice for Brits to buy a holiday home overseas. ONS data released earlier this month revealed that Spain is home to 296,000 British citizens, the largest number of Brits residing outside the UK in Europe. And if this year’s tourism figures are anything to go by, not even Brexit will dampen the British love of sun, sea, sand and Sangria in Spain!

“Whilst no one knows quite what the eventual Brexit agreement will look like, it’s clear by the publication of this data that the 300,000 British citizens living in Spain are being considered, as indeed are the 116,000 Spanish citizens living in the UK. And having been operational in Spain since 1958, we at Taylor Wimpey Spain remain at the disposal for any Brits looking to make Spain their home.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales & Marketing Manager, Taylor Wimpey España

Early figures from leading Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España confirm that the outlook for buying a property in Spain in 2017 remains positive.

“We made significant progress in the Spanish market last year by delivering a double operating profit to a massive of £20.6 million for 2016 and by completing 304 homes. The first half of the year has been extremely encouraging and with demand set to rise further throughout summer 2017, our outlook for the year is extremely positive.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales & Marketing Manager, Taylor Wimpey España

Perfectly timed to meet this steady recovery of the second homes market and increasing number of British visitors, Taylor Wimpey España has recently completed the completion of brand new apartments to enjoy this summer.

The new Marina Golf residential complex is located next to the Santa Ponsa III Golf Club on the beautiful island of Mallorca. Prices start from just €590,000 + VAT and every townhouse has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, with air conditioning, under floor heating in the bathrooms, double-glazing, a security door, TV aerial and satellite dish.

All the homes enjoy views over the golf course and a large communal garden where buyers can spend sunny Mallorca days and warm Mediterranean evenings.
