Sales of Spanish homes increase by 5.3% in April as Alicante reports strong recovery

According to the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) the sale of Spanish homes rose by 5.3% in April, up from the same month in 2013, to a total of 24,968 sales.

 

Alicante in particular has shown a strong recovery from turbulent economic times over the first quarter of this year, according to a report by the Spanish Development Ministry. The sale of homes in the province rose a remarkable 24.3% in the first quarter, registering more than 6,600 sales.

 

Moreover, for the first time in several years the domestic demand has begun to gather pace, increasing by 23.7%, compared to declines seen in recent years. Of course or Naturally, foreign buyers account for more than half of the purchases of properties in much loved, sunny Alicante, with 55% of sales going to non-domiciles.

 

Interestingly, according to the data, the Costa Blanca municipality of Torrevieja, Alicante as once again returned to the top of the list of most properties sold this year.  Just under a thousand homes sold in the first quarter, reaffirming both domestic and foreign love for the Costa Blanca as a top holiday destination.
