Taylor Wimpey España kicks off fundraising challenges in aid of two charities

Spain ,

The second weekend of May will see Taylor Wimpey employees complete their annual Charity Challenge divided in four levels to raise money for two great causes.

This year’s challenge will transport employees to Wales, home of the massive Snowdonia National Park complete with stunning yet challenging mountains to climb. Two teams from the Spanish arm of the company, Taylor Wimpey Espana, will tackle the fierce challenge of hiking the mountains, taking in the infamous Glyders and Snowdon itself.

As well as preparing to tackle this rocky challenge (10th to 13th May), the Taylor Wimpey España teams have started holding fundraising events to help raise money for The Youth Adventure Trust and Llar de memoria, with a marketing campaign with suppliers, agents, the sale of T-shirts and a solidarity beer event held in the office on Mallorca.

The Youth Adventure Trust helps vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to gain the skills, confidence and courage needed in order to face the challenges in their daily lives whereas Llar de memoria is an association that ruins a sanitary centre to treat dementia.

The team has already raised 91% of the £4,000 target before the challenge.

“Our Taylor Wimpey challenge has become an annual event with many employees looking forward to the opportunity to participate and donate to some amazing causes. The money raised from this challenge will make such a difference to young people’s lives and victims of dementia. Our goal is to give as much as we can, so no donation is too big or too small. We wish our two teams chosen to represent the Spanish division all the very best for this exciting challenge!”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

Despite the popularity of the Snowdonia peaks, this challenge should not be underestimated especially as they are divided in four levels: Snowdon Dragon, Snowdon Monster, Snowdon Sprite and Snowdon Beast.

Each includes a conquest of the National Park through Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr and Snowdon – a total ascent of 1,500 metres on average – and those brave enough will not just descend on foot but also on two wheels. With its large boulders, gushing waterfalls, vertical rock faces, heavy mist and endless crude stone staircases, the Snowdon mountains really are a hell of a place for a hike and bike ride!

For 60 years, Taylor Wimpey España has been delivering award-winning homes that complement the natural beauty of the Balearics, the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. If you would like to view more about the event or make a donation to the team please do visit this link.

Spanish holiday home market sizzles as Taylor Wimpey España launches four new developments

Spanish holiday home market sizzles as Taylor Wimpey España launches four new developments

Spain
  • Average price for Spanish housing jumped by 3.8% (Tinsa)
  • Housing recovery is becoming more widespread (Sociedad de Tasacion)
  • Sizzling new holiday homes available on Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and Mallorca (Taylor Wimpey España)

Today’s outlook for housing in Spain is bright with the country’s real estate market causing international buyers to sit up and take notice. Latest data from Tinsa presents strong evidence of the Spanish housing recovery with the average price of finished housing in Spain increasing by 3.8% in first quarter of the year, compared to the same period in 2017. The same report states that the greatest demand comes for housing on the Spanish coasts where Taylor Wimpey España has been operating for 60 years (1958 – 2018).

Indeed, whilst the recovery is at its strongest in different regions, including the capital Madrid, but data from Sociedad de Tasacion (ST) suggests that price increases are becoming more widespread across the nation. Consequently, buyers in search of the perfect holiday home, are increasingly moving to secondary cities and locations to find affordable properties. With this in mind, the Spanish coasts, especially the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol, are in the spotlight with Taylor Wimpey España launching not one but four new projects this spring in answer to rising demand for holiday homes.

In line with the company’s plan to invest 30 million euros in the most popular destinations, Spain’s leading housebuilder continues to strengthen its position in the residential market with these four new developments: Kiruna Residential in Elche, Costa Blanca, Royal Blue in Mallorca, Royal Banus in a privileged enclave next to Puerto Banus in Marbella and Le Caprice within the famous La Quinta Golf Resort area in Benahavis, Costa del Sol.

“When buying a holiday home in Spain, location is always a key factor. That is the reason why we spend a lot of time at Taylor Wimpey España focused on building quality houses in the right areas. We do not think about just building houses, but rather seek is to create the perfect home in the perfect location where owners can enjoy the environment to the fullest.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

Le Caprice is a prime example. The exclusive residence located on the Costa del Sol comprises 14 penthouses, apartments and duplexes with 3 bedrooms that have everything residents need to enjoy the Mediterranean life. The south-west facing project enjoys spectacular views over La Quinta golf course, making the development a unique destination for golf lovers. Prices start from €550,000 + VAT.

The second new development on the Costa del Sol is the exclusive Royal Banus. It may be located next to the casino in Marbella but these 6 luxury penthouses with solarium and 18 modern contemporary apartments with 2 and 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms are no gamble! Prices start from €490,000 + VAT and the complex is set to be completed for Q4 2019.

Further north on the Costa Blanca, Kiruna Residencial is located in the town of Elche (Alicante) in an environment surrounded by nature and golf courses. The complex of 3-bedroom townhouses combines the Alenda Golf course with a livelier beachfront nightlife easily accessible in just 15 minutes. The homes also include a garden, private parking and access to a communal swimming pool, club house and supermarket. Prices start from €165,000 + VAT. The houses are scheduled to be delivered for June 2019.

The sky’s the limit as residential construction levels rise in Spain

The sky’s the limit as residential construction levels rise in Spain

Spain
  • Licences for new homes jumped 27% in 2017 vs 2016 (Ministry of Development)
  • 349 homes were delivered by Taylor Wimpey España last year
  • Panorama Mar is one high-quality development under construction (Taylor Wimpey España)

Spain’s construction industry is stirring back to life as data reveals an increase in levels of construction.

According to data from the Ministry of Development, authorised licences to build new properties skyrocketed by 27% in the first nine months of 2017 with the number of new build homes in Spain amounting to 60,695 compared to the same period in 2016.

This increase in the construction sector is another encouraging sign for the Spanish property market. Applications for apartment blocks dominate the new build market being the direct result of the significant return of overseas buyers.

Leading Spanish home builder Taylor Wimpey España, which is marking 60 years of Iberian success this year (1958 – 2018), is leading the way in new-build homes in Spain. In the face of any Brexit uncertainties, Taylor Wimpey España has continued to deliver beautifully designed homes, having completed 301 units last year (349 including Joint Ventures).

“Residential construction is rising once more as demand from overseas buyers continues to strengthen the market. British buyers are once again leading the market’s revival and we plan to extend our portfolio this year with a variety of new developments perfect for those looking for high quality holiday homes in the most popular areas of Spain.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

For 2018, Taylor Wimpey España forecasts to deliver 400 homes to answer to the rising demand for Spanish properties, with sales to British buyers accounting for 19% of all sales for the company last month.

The picturesque Panorama Mar on the Costa Blanca is a prime example of the high-quality properties that are driving the residential construction boom. Just a few metres from the sparkling sea of Punta Prima, the stunning two and three-bedroom beach apartments offer lifestyle buyers everything they could wish for, with prices from just €279,000. The development is expected to complete by November 2018.

Brits once again top Spanish second home buyers

Brits once again top Spanish second home buyers

Spain
  • Brits once again #1 buyers for Taylor Wimpey España
  • 8% rise in property prices recorded for the Balearics (Tinsa)
  • Nearly 16% of foreign demand comes from British buyers (Spanish Land Registrar’s Association)
  • Typical home sought by Brits on Mallorca is a 3-bedroom apartment costing the range of €250,000 and €500,000 (Kyero)

The Spanish housing market is looking in good shape according to the latest Tinsa data which reveals a 4.5% increase in property values for February 2018 (compared to last same period last year) with the highest growth seen in the Balearic Islands.

Indeed, the Balearics (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera) recorded average house price growth of 6.8% in the last 12 months whilst prices along the Mediterranean coast continued to grow steadily at 4.4% (Tinsa).

Looking at what, or indeed who, is driving the market onwards and upwards, data from the Spanish Land Registrar’s Association reveals that foreign demand for Spanish property now accounts for 42% of the overall market with Brits buying boltholes abroad accounting for almost 16% of all transactions made by foreign citizens in in the final quarter of last year

It appears that worries over Brexit have had limited impact as UK demand for second homes in Spain rose from 14.7% in Q3 to 15.6% in Q4 last year.

This sentiment is echoed by leading housebuilder, Taylor Wimpey Espana, celebrating 60 years of trading this year (1958 – 2018), which has revealed that Brits are once again their biggest buyers accounting for almost a fifth of all reservations made in February 2018.

“With Spain now the second most popular tourist destination in the world, it is no surprise to see British holidaymakers and indeed second home buyers returning in greater numbers this year. Property sales to Brits are strong, reclaiming their crown as our number one buyers and we are in fact seeing more and more affluent British citizens looking to place their money outside of the UK, with view to Brexit in April 2019. Spain is deemed a safe heaven and we expect to continue to see ever more British buyers in 2018.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

In terms of where Brits are buying, the latest data from Kyero.com reveals that spacious homes on the largest Balearic island, Mallorca, are in the crosshairs of Brits.

A typical holiday home bought for Brits on the island is a 3-bedroom apartment costing in the range of €250,000 and €500,000. And this precisely what Taylor Wimpey España is offering with their brand-new development, Royal Blue.

Located in Capdepera on Mallorca, the exclusive Royal Blue complex offers contemporary apartments with 3 sizeable bedrooms. From the large terrace, owners can enjoy the fabulous sea views and the spectacular blend of blue and turquoise tones present in the crystalline waters.

From €315,000 + VAT, these new homes are in an ideal area, next to the beach at Cala Mesquida and are within walking distance of local restaurants and amenities.

Interested buyers can find out more about this superb new development by calling 08000 121 020 or visiting http://www.taylorwimpeyspain.com/. (If you reside outside of the UK you will need to call 00 34 971 706 972.

Alternatively, the Taylor Wimpey España will be available the ‘A Place in the Sun Live’ exhibition this weekend (16th – 18th March) in Manchester.

Head to Malaga to breathe cleaner air in your second home

Head to Malaga to breathe cleaner air in your second home

Spain
  • Clean breathing is among latest wellness trends (Global Wellness Summit)
  • Spain has second-highest life expectancy in the world (World Happiness Report)
  • 95% of Malaga air is clean (Malaga Council)
  • Gardens at Botanic residence attributed to residents’ health (Taylor Wimpey España)

In recent years, figures about high levels of air pollution in the UK have raised concerns that air toxicity is having a significant, but neglected, impact on health. Levels of toxic air in the UK have broken EU legal limits every year since 2010.

As air pollution in the UK has become a catastrophic invisible killer, it’s no wonder that 2018 is all about clean breathing with recent the Global Wellness Summit revealing that people are looking for ways to have cleaner environmental practices, by choosing ‘lung-cleansing’ travel destinations for instance.

In line with this healthier behaviour, Brits buying second homes overseas to relocate or retire to are choosing healthier environments. The Iberian Peninsula is the ideal destination for that, with the 2017 World Happiness Report ranking Spain as one of the top 5 countries where people live the longest. Experts remind that clean air is fundamental as air pollution is often associated with reduced life expectancy.

Despite being a country with significant motor traffic which is the main cause of the low air quality in and around Spanish cities, many studies show that Malaga city’s air is amongst the cleanest in Spain. A recent study conducted by Malaga Council revealed that residents can breathe good quality air in 95% of the city.

Always committed to delivering what clients want, Spain’s leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey España, which has operated successfully in Spain for 60 years (1958-2018), is building eco-friendly homes in Malaga province for those looking to live and breathe clean.

“Regardless of your age, air quality is key for good health so it’s no wonder that we as homebuilders, are responsible for putting measures to protect residents wherever possible. So we build homes with sustainable features and in eco-friendly environments where people can live the healthy Mediterranean lifestyle. “

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey España

Located on the Costa del Sol, in one of the most exclusive areas of Benahavis, Malaga the unique Botanic residence is latest Taylor Wimpey Espana’s green development.

The luxury eco-friendly homes are constructed at different ground levels and the buildings, which hold a B energy certificate and use solar panels, are crowned by spacious penthouses with a modern design and spectacular solariums. Prices start from €365,000 + VAT.

The gardens of Botanic are a major part of the design but also aid better health for residents. From purple orchid trees or fiddle leaves (Ficus lyrate) together with more exotic representations such as the drago palm (Dracaena draco), the gardens integrate a variety of plants and indigenous trees from all over the world that purify the air.

“To minimise pollution in homes, experts say that plants are extremely vital in the environment as they absorb CO2 and provide the oxygen needed to breathe. That makes Botanic the perfect healthy residence to live in because it has a unique natural environment which contributes to residents’ good health.“

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey España

Botanic is a well-connected residence where serenity and tranquillity reign and golf activities are available within a radius of just 4 km.

Scandinavian interest in Spanish properties rises steadily

Scandinavian interest in Spanish properties rises steadily

Spain
  • Swedish buyers up 6% in the last year(Taylor Wimpey España)
  • Spain on course to overtake UK as one the world’s favourite investment locations (Knight Frank)
  • 80% of all Marbella property sales made by Scandinavian buyers in the last year (Knight Frank)
  • Scandinavian travel agency launches Spanish flights from new UK base

Interest in Spanish real estate from Scandinavian nations is rising steadily as life in sunny southern Spain draws buyers from colder climes. Swedish buyers, especially those looking for a second home in Spain, have increased in recent years now ranking amongst the top 5 nationalities of foreign purchasers according to leading Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España. Total sales to Swedish nationals in 2017 were up 6% and now account for 10% of all purchases made with Taylor Wimpey España.

This data comes in line with recent report from Knight Frank which states that Spain is forecast to trump the UK as a favoured investment location in 2018, with the company’s Marbella office seeing Scandinavian buyers accounting for 80% of all sales of luxury developments in 2017.

Easy direct access to many parts of Spain has particularly fuelled foreign property investment in recent decades. And as Swedes are one of the world’s best travelled nations, Scandinavian low-cost agency Primera Holidays is establishing an arm in the UK to offer new trips to popular destinations in Spain, making the region a hotspot for even more buyers in 2018.

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey España, which has operated successfully in Spain for 60 years (1958-2018), and his team now translate all property brochures and contracts into Swedish as a matter of course and for the last four years have a Swedish version of Taylor Wimpey España website to meet demand.

“Spain’s economy is the fastest growing in the Eurozone, bringing greater confidence back the property market and thus attracting demand from North European countries. Over the last few years, we have seen a real boost from Swedish buyers especially.

“Many Swedish buyers are looking at other destinations than their beloved Costa Blanca, choosing the island of Mallorca for example with the new Bahia Sant Pere development being very high demand.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey España

Designed in a Mediterranean architectural style with typical colour render, the apartments at Bahia Sant Pere  are surrounded by ample communal gardens with two swimming pools and uninterrupted views over the sea or towards the highest peaks of the Serres de Llevant.  The development is quite unique on Mallorca, boasting a superb location in the unspoiled north east with selling prices very affordable from 221,500€ + VAT for a brand new, two bed apartments. The phrase 3 is now for sale.

New flights announced for this summer’s top golf destinations

New flights announced for this summer’s top golf destinations

Spain
  • Spain is now the world’s second most popular tourist destination (UNWTO)
  • 83% of golfers intend to take more trips in 2018 (Your Golf Travel)
  • Airlines increase capacities to top golfing destination Mallorca by 13% (Jet2.com)
  • Extra Ryanair flights announced from Irish airports to golf hotspots Alicante & Mallorca (Ryanair)

According to latest reports, Spain is riding high in the tourism stakes, pushing America down a notch to third position and becoming the world’s second most popular tourist destination. Latest data from the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) estimates that a record 82 million travellers visited Spain in 2017. Undoubtedly, one driving force behind Spain’s record popularity is the nation’s deserved status as an exceptional international destination for golf. A survey conducted by golf travel company, YourGolfTravel, highlights just how much dedication golfers hold for their sport with a large majority (83%) planning to go on more golfing trips this year than 2017.

In response to this high demand, a number of airlines have announced greater access to golfing destinations in Spain by increasing the frequency of flights this summer. For golfers heading to Mallorca’s number one golf destination, Son Gual, Jet2 and Jet2holidays have increased their seating capacity by 13%.

This route is sure to be popular as the highly regarded course will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer, attracting some A-list celebrities such as tennis star Rafael Nadal or the German football manager Joachim Low.

“A lot of our UK visitors flew with Monarch as the company was golf-friendly and some may have feared they might struggle to find suitable flight. So, Jet2.com‘s recent announcement will soften the blow, not only for UK golfers travelling to Mallorca, but also for those of us working in the tourism sector here.”

Andreas Pamer, Son Gual’s General Manager

Although Mallorca has exceptional golf facilities, the Costa Blanca has cemented its position as a leading golf destination by being awarded the European Golf Destination of the Year last year. The Costa Blanca has always been a hit with Irish visitors in particular especially golfers.

Fortunately, Irish holidaymakers and golfers alike (92% of which are ready to go on more golf holidays this year, according to YourGolfTravel) can escape to sunnier climes as budget airline Ryanair will be operating extra flights from Shannon to Alicante and Mallorca thrice weekly this summer. In line with the airlines, leading Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España, operational across Spain for 60 years (1958 – 2018), is answering this growing demand for homes with access to golf courses and training facilities.

On the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca, the key-ready homes at Marina Golf, priced from €549.000 + VAT, will blow golfers’ minds away with the spacious townhouses surrounded by a solarium. Located in the southwest of the island, the residential complex is in an excellent location, surrounded by some of the ACGM’s top golf courses on the island including Golf Santa Ponsa I, II and III, which are right next to the development, as well as the Golf de Andratx, Golf de Poniente and Bendinat Golf.

“Son Gual’s 10th anniversary event this year will showcase Mallorca as the perfect location for golf, with at least 300 days of sunshine a year and a choice of over 20 courses suitable for golfers of all abilities. With Mallorca and the Costa Blanca becoming an essential stop on the golf world circuit, we expect a growth in potential buyers looking for properties within walking distance of the best courses.”

As tourism spend rises, wealthy Brits snap up Spanish properties

As tourism spend rises, wealthy Brits snap up Spanish properties

Spain
  • Record-breaking 82 million foreign nationals visited Spain in 2017 (UNWTO)
  • Average spending rose by 13% (Jan-Nov 2017, Tourist Market Barometer)
  • Brits spent more money in Spain accounting for 17.4 billion euros in total (Tourist Market Barometer)
  • British buyers shell out more on dream Spanish homes (TWE)

While Spain received a record-breaking 82 million visitors in 2017 (UNWTO), overtaking the US as one of the world’s most visited countries; an achievement reinforced by a rise in tourism spend.

According to the Tourist Market Barometer, the average spending of tourists to Spain rose 13% between January and November 2017 compared to the previous year with British travellers, without surprise, among the biggest spenders. In total, British tourists spent about 17.4 billion euros in Spain, up 8.2% compared to the same period in 2016 while average spending per person reached €1.054 (Tourist Market Barometer).

Indeed the tourism industry has been an important driver of Spain’s economy over the decades, benefitting from the increase of cheap flights delivered by low-cost airlines and affordable accommodation.

However, Spain’s success in attracting international tourists has also prompted the question whether the country’s low-cost tourism sector can survive?

Indeed, the low-cost tourism model remains so popular that Spain welcomed only 10% of the wealthiest travellers in the world (Tourist Market Barometer). And as local authorities set out ambitious plans to tackle the issue of mass market tourism, Taylor Wimpey España, which celebrates its 60th year of operations (1958-2018), is proudly delivering high quality homes for discerning visitors.

“It is fantastic to see Spain’s popularity continues to flourish, we have certainly received a great number of enquiries from international visitors looking to experience all that this wonderful country has to offer. I do believe however that it is important to ensure that popular destinations in Spain such as Costa del Sol remains a sustainable coastline which is why we are focused on delivering quality homes in quality locations for generations to enjoy.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

In terms of budgets, Taylor Wimpey España has seen a rise in spending on quality homes from Brits. December 2017 saw the sixth consecutive month of growth in sales to British buyers for Taylor Wimpey España with the majority of transactions made at the upper price point of €450,000 and beyond, a trend never seen before.

With a view to Brexit in April 2019, British buyers are splashing out more on Spanish properties to secure the right home for either their retirement or the perfect holiday.

“Affluent British citizens are looking to place their money outside of the UK, in Spanish property, with view to Brexit in April 2019. Spain is deemed a safe heaven and we expect to continue to see greater number of purchasers at this higher price point.”

Marc Pritchard, Sales and Marketing Director, Taylor Wimpey España

New penthouse and duplexes in the Grand View residential complex is an outstanding example of second homes in the upper price bracket, popular with British buyers. Priced from €420,000 + VAT, penthouses are comprised of 3 generous bedrooms with communal gardens and swimming pools, a spectacular solarium and panoramic views of the prestigious Asia and America golf courses in the valley of Mijas on the Costa del Sol.

With all the advantages of privacy and high quality, the new residential complex has everything to attract potential buyers without a doubt.

Taylor Wimpey España celebrates 60th anniversary (1958 – 2018)

Taylor Wimpey España celebrates 60th anniversary (1958 – 2018)

Spain

2018 sees Taylor Wimpey celebrate its 60th year of operations in Spain.

A household name in the UK, Taylor Wimpey has spent the last six decades (1958 – 2018) selecting prime locations on the Spanish mainland and Balearic Islands, building attractive developments characterised by their quality, careful design and respect for the environment.

Today, the Spanish arm of Taylor Wimpey, which has reported steady growth in both international buyers and house sales, is contributing to Spain’s well-recovered property market with experts forecasting prices and sales to rise once again this year.

In 1958 Taylor Wimpey – known as “Taylor Woodrow” at that time – was already a prestigious developer in the United Kingdom when Frank Taylor, the company’s founder, spent his honeymoon on Mallorca. He and his wife, Christine, fell in love with the island and decided that Taylor Wimpey should also operate in Spain.

With the support of Jaime Ballester, they set up the subsidiary and built their first properties – Apartamentos Paraiso – in Canyamel, in the east of Mallorca. The development was comprised of 40 apartments across five blocks.

Over the years they extended their presence to other coastal areas – the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca primarily with the acquisition in June 1996 of the development Las Fuentes in Moreira and Los Castillos in the early 1990’s in Puerto Duquesa.

In 2007, Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey merged to create the UK’s largest housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Plc and two years later its Spanish arm took the name of Taylor Wimpey España led by current General Manager Javier Ballester, son of Jaime Ballester.

During the 60 years since formation, Taylor Wimpey España has delivered more than 6,000 homes in its three current locations to buyers from over 40 countries worldwide. More than 3,000 homes have been sold on the islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, about 2,5000 homes on the Costa del Sol and more than 1,000 on Costa Blanca North & South.

Increasingly, today’s Taylor Wimpey España client is paying more attention to the developer’s brand and reputation for delivering than location, price or features.

One example of Taylor Wimpey España’s obsession with quality is the exclusive Marina Golf development located in the southwest of Mallorca. Priced from €549,000 + VAT, the last remaining golf townhouses have 3 with private terraces and gardens, surrounded by a solarium with views over the Santa Ponsa III golf course.

“Whilst it’s easy to say, it’s not so easy to deliver high quality homes which is why we are so proud of our Mallorcan developments. Operational since 1958, Taylor Wimpey España has been at the forefront of the island’s property market for almost six decades, securing the very best sites and building the finest homes for our clients. We are Mallorca and we are committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the island we call home.”
